When the possibility of super-eruption is a concern, an acrylic pad can be used to make occlusal contact with the opposing dentition. This pad is designed so that it is clear of the tissue and the patient can easily floss underneath it using a floss threader. Upon delivery, it will be necessary to adjust the occlusal surface of the pad. Again, it is always important to check for a parallel path of insertion between the two abutment teeth. Note - Adding occlusal rests to this design will prevent gingival displacement of this appliance. Bonding these rests in place will allow the patient to maintain this appliance for a longer period of time.
