CT Scan Appliance for the Fully Edentulous Patient

6520A

Relating scan slices to clinical locations becomes very difficult in the completely edentulous mandible and maxilla. The mandible measurements can be made from the mental foramen, but in the maxilla, there are no practical reference points from which to make measurements. This scanning appliance is designed to give a clear indication of the occlusal plane, the long axis of the teeth, and the location of the center of the proposed restoration. To fabricate this appliance, we will need to replicate the patient’s trial denture or existing denture in clear acrylic. Gutta Percha is used to place the radiopaque markers. Remember this appliance is a representation of your desired prosthetic result. It is important to take the time to make sure the denture set-up is correct.
