This appliance is the same as appliance #2013 but features a rigid non-adjustable metal bar. Both of these appliances are used in situations where hygiene is a consideration as they are easy to clean. The occlusal metal bar makes this temporary splint ideal to maintain an implant site or protect an area that has undergone a ridge augmentation.
Note - It is important to check for a parallel path of insertion between the two abutment teeth.
Note - Adding occlusal rests to this design will prevent gingival displacement of this appliance. Bonding these rests in place will allow the patient to maintain this appliance for a longer period of time.
