Beautiful TeethA few years ago, media website She Knows published an article about the link between a healthy smile and high self-esteem. At the end of the article, readers were offered a simple survey. It only had one question, “Are you happy with your smile?”

Over 1,400 readers answered, and the results might surprise you. If you’re unhappy with your crooked teeth, yellow teeth, or deep overbite, then you aren’t alone. Seventy percent of the survey’s respondents are not happy with their smile.

Of course, a simple survey at the end of a health and wellness article isn’t exactly what you’d consider scientifically rigorous, but it does point to a possible truth: a large majority of people don’t feel confident about their smiles. Confidence is what drives us to ask for the promotion, to slip our digits to the cute person at the grocery store, and to try new things.

If a deep overbite, crooked teeth, or other oral issues are holding you back, it’s time to talk to your dentist about possible smile- enhancing solutions!
