This maxillary appliance is a simple disengaging splint that increases the patient’s vertical dimension. It provides centric stops for the lower posterior buccal cusp tips and has an anterior ramp that provides incisal guidance and cuspid protection. It is primarily used to treat joint pain in the absence of TMJ clicking.
