The Lower Bowbeer appliance is a popular modification of the Schwarz design. It is most commonly used when treating adults who have both a narrow arch and lingually tipped posteriors. Since it is designed without clasps, it is often used in conjunction with full arch bracketing in order to expedite treatment. The design is extremely esthetic and its small size makes it less likely to affect the patient’s speech. For all of these reasons this appliance is often preferred over other designs.
