The Lamberg SleepWell Appliance “LSW” is based on the concept of an anterior point stop. Its intended function is as a deprogrammer, and it naturally reduces elevator muscle activity. This is the default design.

The Lamberg SleepWell Appliance with Posterior Support “LSW-PS” is an alternative model for patients who have or develop TMD. In addition to the standard anterior stop, this model features bilateral posterior point stops. The “tripodization” of occlusal contacts prevents overloading of the TMJ.

When the LSW-PS is prescribed, the lab adds an anterior jig (3mm wide by 2mm high) which simplifies the maintenance of the posterior occlusal contacts throughout the calibration
process.
