Many implant patients have found it difficult to tolerate interim partial dentures, so more innovative methods have had to be devised to keep an implant patient functional throughout the integration and restorative period of treatment. The Fixed/Removable Banded Anterior Bridge is one such device. This appliance utilizes Wilson vertical tubes soldered to bands to allow the patient to have the benefit of a palate-free fixed appliance while still allowing the dentist to easily remove it to gain access to the implants. Pressure can be kept off the implant site by allowing the wire to positively rest against the surrounding anteriors as seen here or by adding rest seats and rests on the bicuspids or cuspids. Note - Don’t forget to adjust the internal aspect of the pontics to make sure they do not put any unwanted pressure on the implant site.
